And acid. And salts. And elements. And…
Most of us don’t pay any attention to everyday science stuff. It generally only makes headlines when there are huge discoveries or a chance of death. Like any other field, the day-to-day grind is kind of boring. Lots of paperwork, testing and retesting, arguing over budgets, etc. Unlike any other field, chemistry affects every single person on the planet every single day. Medicines, building materials, fertilizers, batteries… all are better because of chemistry. Even hermits with no access to technology still use chemistry when they prepare and cook food, build a fire, or boil water.
The fourth week of October is National Chemistry Week. If you’re a chemist, or know someone who is (chemistry teachers count, too!), we have chemistry mugs that make great gifts!
1. Bragging Rights
Things can always be made better with a little bit of applied chemistry. They can also get spectacularly worse, so, you know, be careful.
2. Julia Child vs. Marie Curie
Cooking is also more forgiving if you get your measurements a wee bit off. It won’t get as… explodey.
3. So Wise in the Ways of Science
Scientists tend to be nerds. Nerds tend to like Monty Python movies. They’ll love this mug.
4. Ta Da!
If you ever want to blow a kid’s mind, sneak some potassium chloride, copper sulfate, or copper chloride into a campfire for purple, green, or blue flames. Some adults will be wowed, too.
5. Scientific Method
Yes, retesting is part of the process, but you can save a lot of time and effort by listening to others.
You can see the rest of our chemistry mugs by clicking HERE. Some other industry more your thing? You can do a search from our home page. Remember, too, that U.S. orders of two or more mugs get free shipping. That saves you enough for a pack of pH strips or a few pipettes!
