My family visited Canada back in the 80s. We crossed the border at Niagara Falls and drove through Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. We crossed back into the States at Vancouver Island and pointed ourselves east.
I have to say, everyone we met in Canada was very friendly and polite. Stereotypes become stereotypes for a reason, I suppose. They were certainly friendlier and more polite than the two teenagers who’d been cooped up in a motor home for weeks and were ready to kill each other.
I’m kidding; we were still social then. It wasn’t until Mount Rushmore (week 5 of 6) that our folks started worrying about collateral damage to the other tourists.
I haven’t made it back to Canada yet, but I will someday [insert obligatory political joke here]. I wouldn’t mind having a horse farm in Saskatchewan, just as soon as I figure out how to plant them.
