People love to compete. Correction: People love to win, and that’s why they compete. At your job, you might have an Employee of the Month or Most Sales award. After work, you might go to your weekly poker game or update your fantasy football league. Or maybe you belong to an intramural basketball team down at the gym. For a lot of people, it’s their favorite video game.
I remember the sense of accomplishment that came with getting a top ten score on Tron, Joust, Tempest, or some other popular game. You had tangible proof to show (and challenge) your friends, and if you were a regular visitor to the arcade, you’d obsessively check the board to make sure you were still on it. Especially if you had the highest score. And if you ever slipped from #1 to #2, you were living at that arcade until you’d reclaimed your spot at the top.
Whether your favorite title is an 8-bit classic, a side-scroller, an MMORPG, a single-player puzzler, or any other, you still want that sense of achievement that comes with beating the game. It’s going to take some time, so you’ll want to stay hydrated and alert. We’d recommend one of our video gaming mugs!
1. What Bills?
When it all starts piling up, grab your two-handed sword, revolver, or laser gun and attack something.
2. Ready Player
This is my battle cry for anything challenging. Office competitions, trivia contests, doing the dishes...
3. Climate Control
Because it’s too hot outside. Or too cold. Or windy. It’s really humid, you guys.
4. Shake it Off
You’ll almost always find a challenge that’s incredibly frustrating. Don’t get enraged. Hit pause and chill for a bit. It’s called “playing” for a reason.
5. The Siren Call
If you’ve ever worked from home, you know how difficult it can be to stay away from your games during business hours.
