A good rule of thumb for knowing when you’ve officially gotten “old” is when your doctor is younger than you. It can be a little depressing. The flip side to that, though, is that Medicine as a field gets a little better every day, so there are more effective treatments available to you.
We always appreciate when our doctor is familiar with our history, and spends time patiently answering our questions. They do that for every single person they see every single day. Not to mention the behind-the-scenes activities such as updating patient charts, keeping up with developments in their specialty, staying current with any accreditation groups they may belong to, meeting with pharmaceutical reps, following up with testing labs, administrative/manager work if they own their own practice… there aren’t enough hours in the day, yet they pull it off.
Let your caregivers know how much they are appreciated. The last week in March is National Physicians Week, and we have some great medical mugs to help you celebrate!
It’s not “The Internet, MD.” Don’t believe everything you read online.
2. Do Your Part
Your doctor wants you to be in the best health you can be, as quickly as you can be. Follow their instructions.
3. Open Up!
They say that true beauty is on the inside. Your surgeon can confirm this.
Their professional reputation is at stake every time they make a diagnosis. They probably aren’t going to kid around too much.
5. Liquid Batteries
Shifts can get long. Make sure your favorite doctor has enough coffee to push through.
