The weather is finally starting to get warmer here. It’s been a long winter, and I’m looking forward to keeping the windows open, grilling outdoors, and taking some camping trips.
I’m not so thrilled about the upcoming yardwork, though. Mowing is not my favorite outdoor activity by any stretch.
One of my neighbors has turned her lawn into a huge ornamental garden. Lots of different flowers, some tasteful yard art, stone edging, and truckloads of pine bark for bedding. She only has a very narrow strip of grass to mow, but keeping the rest of it thriving takes a great deal of time. I have a few windowsill herb pots in my kitchen, and that’s about the extent of my gardening prowess. The one time I tried to take it outdoors, I planted mint, which quickly took over the small plot I had it in. I had to dig down to the clay and call in a napalm strike before it finally stopped growing back.
