When I was growing up, we always lived a long car ride away from my grandparents, so I only saw them on holidays and summer breaks. In contrast, a friend’s mom and his wife’s mom both live with them and their kids. That’s a great arrangement for everyone. My friend and his wife can both work, the elders are taken care of, and the kids always have someone there to meet them at the school bus, fix meals, and just generally provide a sense of stability.
Of course, the advantage to only seeing the grandparents a couple of times a year is that they really spoil you when you’re there. It’s even better if you’re an only child, because you don’t have to share the snacks, money, or attention.
September 8 is Grandparent’s Day, so check out these great grandparent mugs!
1. Old School Sneaky
And it probably won’t require an internet connection, either.
2. Use Them Often
I think grandparents do this as revenge for some of the stuff we got up to as kids. A drum set? Sure!
3. Playing Favorites
If you think mansplaining is annoying, wait until you start getting mother-in-law-splaining.
4. Role Models
They must have done something right.
It’s amazing how fast you get used to being indulged.
This is just a small sample of the fun Grandparent mugs we offer. Need more than one? Remember that U.S. orders of two or more items get free shipping!
