A friend of mine recently confessed that she spent more time deciding what she wanted her grandchildren to call her than she did picking out names for her kids. “Granny” was too old-fashioned, “MeeMaw” was too childish, and “Momma” was already claimed by the other grandmother. She eventually settled on “Grandmama.” She said it sounded worldly, but I suspect it had more to do with the Addams Family. My dad has already claimed “Big Papa Dub” as his great-grandfather title (or possibly his rap artist name), even though great-grandkids are still many years away.
No matter how they’re addressed, grandparents have one job: to spoil the grandkids. Visits to their house usually involve forbidden snacks, staying up late, and maybe a little money slipped into your pocket. And if some life lessons are casually dropped onto your head along the way, that’s just a bonus.
September 9 is Grandparents Day, so if you want to give them another reason to brag to their friends about how awesome you are, get them one of our Grandparent mugs!
1. Santa 2.0
A “Thank you” never hurts, either.
2. Back in My Day…
My grandfather was a chemist. My parents were not thrilled when he taught me how to make gunpowder.
3. Pass It On
We either make the same mistakes our parents did, or an entirely new crop of them. Either way, you’re going to hear about it.
If I ever have to go to court, I want a grandmother as my lawyer.
5. It’s Right There in the Name
That’s the whole point of having kids in the first place, right? To get to play grandparent someday.
6. Rules to Live By
My mother-in-law plays the country grandmother to the hilt, and all of these rules are strictly enforced.
This is just a sample of the Grandparent mugs we have available. You can also get any of our designs on a custom T-shirt for your favorite grands.
