I grew up in the 80s, so the video arcade holds a special place in my reminiscing. From the simple line drawings of Asteroid and Battle Zone to the existential questions of Frogger (Why does the frog die when it hits the water?), I sang along to “Pac Man Fever” while pushing quarter after quarter into those big black cabinets. If a pizza place wanted my money, all they had to do was put Joust or Tron or Dragon’s Lair in the back. Sometimes I’d even eat.

Everyone needs some form of escapism. My personal favorite is single-player puzzle games, such as the Myst series, but I do have a few “hack-n-slash” titles for when I’m in a bad mood.
