Now that May has begun, parents of school-aged children are planning ahead for summer break, trying to arrange vacations, sports camp, day care, or other distractions for the offspring. My youngest is a roller coaster fanatic, and we’re fortunate enough to have a theme park nearby, so that’s on our calendar. I’m also scheduling a couple of camping trips up in the mountains, where it’ll be a little cooler (hopefully), so this month I’ll be pulling out all of the gear out of storage and checking it over.
If you’re starting to plan out your summer activities, don’t forget some of these holidays coming up in June!
1. June 5 – Hot Air Balloon Day
I’ve never been up in a balloon, but if I ever do, I’ll be easy to spot. I’ll be the guy with two parachutes and the death grip on the rail.
2. June 8 – Best Friends Day
Buddies, pals, cronies… whatever you call them, this is the day to celebrate your friendship.
3. June 10 – Herbs & Spices Day
Because when that 20-pound bag of chicken breasts goes on sale, you’ll want a lot of options for cooking them.
4. June 16 – Father’s Day
Show your dad how much you appreciate all he’s done for you.
5. June 18 – Go Fishing Day
Coffee is as important to fishermen (and other outdoors-y people) as their bait.
6. June 21 – International Yoga Day
A lot of people enjoy the tranquility of yoga. I just do it to stay flexible enough to scratch my own back.
7. 1st week – National Gardening Week
If you’ve never had a salad made from ingredients that were still growing an hour earlier, you’re missing out.
8. All Month – Adopt a Cat Month
My retirement plan includes a small RV, a map of the country, and a cat.
These are just a few of the June celebrations waiting for you. Be sure to order your new mugs early so you’re ready to go! Remember, U.S. orders of two or more mugs get free shipping!
