May has just started. Four months gone already? We’re still riding out our spring storms, but it’s getting warmer and more plants are blooming. Not great for people with allergies, but the bees love it, and they’re pretty crucial to the food chain. And as always, we are looking a month ahead to plan for upcoming celebrations!
June 20 is the first day of summer, so we’re all gearing up for our favorite outdoor activities. Some will be heading to their annual beach trip. Others are setting up the BBQ and cleaning out the fire pit. Campgrounds start filling up and local pools go to full-time operations. While you’re making your plans, be sure to check out some of the great mugs you can get to help commemorate those special June days!
1. June 5 – Hot Air Balloon Day
Seeing a sky filled with hot air balloons is wonderful. From the ground.
2. June 8 – Name Your Poison Day
In my group of friends, we all like different types of alcohol, and we’re always trying to convert the others. That makes for fun get-togethers.
3. June 10 – National Herbs and Spices Day
There are approximately 412,000 different herbs and spices. Not really, but it seems that way when you start shopping for them.
4. June 13 – Sewing Machine Day
Sewing is one of those useful things that schools should teach as part of a general Life Skills class.
5. June 21 – Father’s Day
Who’s the man?
6. June 25 – International Day of the Seafarer
One could argue that no other single profession has contributed more to civilization.
7. National Camping Month
There aren’t any other summer activities that are this in tents.
8. National Adopt a Cat Month
I really do pity those that are allergic, because cats are awesome.
This is just a short list of a few of the observances held in June. Nothing for you? Search for your favorites from our home page. And if you need more than one, remember that U.S. orders of two or more mugs get free shipping!
