If you’ve heard this anthem from No Doubt, you know that Ms. Stefani is complaining that she isn’t given equal rights or access to certain experiences because she happens to have two X chromosomes. And the refrain of “I’ve had it up to here,” leaves—ahem—no doubt about her feelings on the matter.
She isn’t the only woman who feels held back by stereotypes. There are examples throughout history of women adopting male pen names so they could get published, or pretending to be men in order to be treated as an equal, or leaving a man as a figurehead and actually running things from behind the curtain.
Unfortunately, a lot of that is still going on. Not even three years ago, two women that had started a business had to create male employees out of thin air to have their emails and calls returned from some vendors.
March 8 is International Women's Day. Celebrate the women in your life with an inspirational mug! (Equal rights wouldn't hurt, either.)
1. Listen Up!
It’s way past time for a change. Start with equal pay at the very least.
2. Those That Don’t Know History…
Though repetition of this wouldn’t hurt at all. And probably be much better.
3. Invisible Jet Sold Separately
The former Princess Diane of Fürstenberg, she deliberately built a career rather than coasting on her royal position. She also gave the world the wrap dress.
4. Pay Attention
I’m not even going to try to be clever or funny with this one. It says all that needs to be said.
5. Queen of the Hive
Being bossy isn’t always a negative. Especially when that’s your title.
These are by no means the only Women's Day mugs we have for your female friends. Search from our home page to find hobbies, professions, humor, pop culture, and more! U.S. orders of two or more mugs get free shipping, too!
