We just got into February, and it’s been a pretty mild winter for us so far. We’ve only had one day with any snowfall, and it was over in about twenty minutes. Even with it being warmer than average, I’m still anxious for spring to get here. According to the rodent in Pennsylvania, it’s supposed to come early this year. I’m looking forward to warmer weather, and we’re looking ahead to March. Here are some of the days you can celebrate as the weather improves!
1. March 3 - World Wildlife Day
If I could adopt a wild animal, it would be a giraffe; they’ve always been my favorite. Since it would be incredibly impractical for me to keep one, I donate to conservation groups instead. This is the day to raise awareness of threatened species.
2. March 6 - National Day of Unplugging
I go camping with friends several times a year. Not only to enjoy being outside and cooking over a fire, but also to get away from incessant push notifications. We also leave the phones in the car when we meet for supper. I love technology, but it works for me, not the other way around.
3. March 8 - International Women's Day
This year’s theme for IWD is “I am Generation Equality.” We’ve had six generations since the holiday was founded, so maybe it’ll stick this time.
4. March 17 - St. Patrick's Day
On which day is the most alcohol consumed? Answers vary, but St. Patrick’s Day is up there. If you partake, you’ll want some coffee afterwards.
5. March 22 - National Goof Off Day
The running joke with my friends is that we won’t be able to post bail, because we’ll be in the next cell. Not that we purposely set out to irritate law enforcement, but you get carried away sometimes, you know?
6. March 28 - Major League Baseball Opening Day
Does any other sport give you 2,430 games per season? Baseball fans get plenty to talk about each year.
7. All Month - National Caffeine Awareness Month
Like caffeinated beverages? We have mugs for them. Start your search on our home page.
This is a very short list of some of the observances in March. Remember that U.S. orders of two or more mugs get free shipping, so you can celebrate more than one!
