Morning Blues

I am not a morning person. Never have been. My mom used to say that getting me up for school was like performing a resurrection. If I’m left to my own schedule, I’ll sleep until eleven or noon, easy, then be up until two or three in the morning.

People whose job it is to say things like this say that there are two types of people: Owls and Larks. While we owls enjoy the quiet and solitude of the wee hours, the larks, being early risers, got a head start in setting society’s schedules. That means that I have to get up at stupid-thirty to get the kids to school and be ready to work. I’ll do it, but I’m not making any effort to be happy about it.

If you’re like me, greeting each sunrise with a snarl, these mugs are for you.

1. Be happy I showed up at all.

Look, you can have me at my desk this early, or you can have me pleasant. Choose.

2. One?

I once had coworkers suggest I get another cubicle panel and make a roof. I’m pretty sure they were kidding, but I wouldn’t blame them if they weren’t. We have more grumpy mugs here.

3. Nature’s Alarm Clocks

Nothing is more opposed to the night owl lifestyle than children. Make sure you have your caffeine close by on those morning walks.

4. Another Meeting?

I haven’t even remembered my own name yet, and you want to discuss production schedules?

5. The Exception

Of course, when it’s something you want to do, that makes it a little easier to get up early.

Whether you’re one of those annoyingly chipper morning people, or a much more laid back denizen of the dark, we’ve got a mug for you! Check ‘em all out here. And remember, you can also design your own!
