My friends and I were more into Matchbox cars and Star Wars toys, but if you have any sort of hobby or collection, you’ll get familiar with the different train sets and scales just from seeing them in the stores and at the conventions. My local hobby store had a huge display, with multiple tracks running beside, over, and around each other. You were probably going to find the owner adding to it whenever you visited. New papier-mâché mountains would spring up overnight, or a town would be moved to another spot. It was very impressive.
