Percussion Discussion

They’re the backbone of any modern music group, no matter the genre. The drummer establishes the beat and timing for performances. Without the crash and boom in the background, music would be pretty dull. Guitar solos are nice and all, but who doesn’t air drum along to In the Air Tonight or YYZ or even the bridge in Benny Goodman’s Sing, Sing, Sing?

Even in classical music, where the drum doesn’t set the beat, it’s still an important part. Try to imagine Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture without the bass, kettles, and snares (or cannon fire).

November is International Drum Month, so if you’re looking for some great gifts for drummers, check out our fun drum mugs!

1. Mitts Off

After all of the fiddling to get everything just so, don’t touch the drum kit.

2. Everything’s Better With…

Though you probably wouldn’t put drums on your burger.

3. ||:

Though telling a drummer to repeat is also kind of redundant. That’s their whole job.

4. I’m Kind of a Big Deal

It would look great on a business card, though.

5. Rimshot

Obvious pun is obvious.
