If you’re a jigsaw puzzle fan, you probably have a favorite subject. Prints of famous artwork, city skylines and other landscapes, animals both real and imaginary, scenes from history… pretty much anything you can think of. Beyond the regular puzzles, there are the challenge ones that have hidden objects in the completed picture, puzzles that are printed on both sides, some that have no straight edges or corners, blank puzzles, and more.
You always know when you’ve walked into a puzzler’s home because a table is covered with the latest project. And if it’s the dining room table, people will just have to eat standing up. If there’s too much complaining, there are puzzle mats available that allow you to roll everything up without breaking everything you’ve already fit together. Particularly beautiful or challenging puzzles are often framed and displayed like any other artwork. Visitors may not realize they’re puzzles, but the puzzle addict will be sure to point it out. Who doesn’t like bragging about their hobby?
January 29 is National Puzzle Day, so fill up your new puzzle mug, find those corners and edges, and settle in for some sorting and matching!
1. First Things First
Let’s get the most important question out of the way first.
2. No Time
It can be tough to juggle responsibility with fun. Unless you work at a puzzle factory.
If you can’t find an edge piece, if you don’t know if that blue piece is sky or water, call your local puzzleologist .
4. And A Handy Box
Why stop at 1000? 1500-, 2000-, even 5000-piece puzzles are out there. Go nuts.
Feeling down and unimportant? Remember that the puzzle can’t be finished without even the smallest pieces.
