Over the years, I’ve known several people with their own small planes, and while they might have grumbled at the cost of fuel, or complained about badly-maintained private airstrips, they all enjoyed having the freedom to get almost anywhere at almost any time.
There’s a certain roguish appeal to being a private pilot, even if all you do is basically provide a taxi service or dust crops. When I was growing up, the pilots that towed the advertising banners in front of the beach crowds were local celebrities in their own right, and their pilot training schools were always full.
Of course, one of the most famous pilots is Amelia Earhart, whose Electra disappeared near Howland Island on July 2, 1937.
July 24 is Amelia Earhart Day (her birthday). If you have a pilot in the family, or are the pilot in the family, check out our great pilot mugs!
1. Fill ‘er Up
And coffee is a lot cheaper than 100-LL.
2. The Four Forces
If it were less complicated, everyone would do it.
3. Now Boarding for…
And there’s no gridlock in the air, either.
4. By the Way
Let people know just how cool you are.
5. Cleared for Takeoff
Pilots may get the glory from the passengers, but the more than 14,000 Air Traffic Controllers in the U.S. take care of the pilots.
These are just a few of the funny Pilot mugs we carry. Want to stock your FBO’s coffee service? U.S. orders of two or more mugs get free shipping!
