People associate the smells of baking with home. So much so, real estate agents holding an open house will warm vanilla extract in the oven so the place smells like cookies to potential buyers. Commercials love to show happy families working together in the kitchen to bake favorite treats. Some restaurants are better known for the bread that accompanies the meal than their actual menu.
I enjoy baking a lot. I like the simple chemistry that makes it work, and I love the various toys… I mean tools you use to mix and roll and shape and cut the raw dough. I have recipes for full loaves if I’m going to be fixing a lot of sandwiches, so I might whip up a dark wheat or sharp sourdough, but I make more biscuits, rolls, and cookies than anything else.
December 18 is Bake Cookies Day, but why limit yourself? Celebrate all things kitchen-y with these great mugs!
1. No Stopping Them
You may as well enjoy whatever comes out of the oven.
2. If You Can’t Stand the Heat
But then I gain weight, which causes more stress, which makes me bake, that leads to…
3. Handmade & Homemade
I give my friends bread, cookies, and other tasty treats all the time. I’m not going to be the only one getting rounder.
4. Make it Reign
I have everything stored exactly where I want it. Rearrange the pantry or cabinets at your own peril.
5. Homework on home work?
I don’t want any tests on my food. If it all gets eaten, it was good. Or good enough, which is also fine.
