When I was a kid, I always looked forward to the back-to-school swag. New backpack, notebooks, markers, and all that. The shiny newness lasted about a week, then the homework and tests kicked in. After that, that oh-so-cool Trapper Keeper wasn’t as thrilling.
As a parent, I look forward to the new school year because my house stays clean and quiet all day! On a less selfish note, I also know that my child is learning new things and developing new skills. His teachers help him explore and expound his interests, and we all work together to help him thrive.
If you’re a parent, you probably got that list about needed classroom supplies. While you’re gathering the extra paper, pencils, and tissues, pick up a gift to say Thanks! to the hard-working men and women that steer our children’s minds.
